Evaluating CTs’ impacts

Types of program evaluations

Evaluations can go a long way in determining whether programs are worthwhile and how they can be improved. Their importance has been recognized by African leaders: the AU’s Social Policy Framework recommends that monitoring, evaluation, and impact evaluations of social protection programs be effectively designed and implemented. For more information, see the African Union’s Social Policy for Africa.

Targeting, process, and impact evaluations can be used to review program performance. For more information, see For Protection and Promotion: The Design and Implementation of Effective Safety Nets.
