Prevalence of CCTs

Increasing Prevalence of Conditional Cash Transfer Programs

The majority of cash transfer programs begun after 2000 were unconditional cash transfer programs (UCTs), but the relative representation of CCTs is increasing. The relative increase in CCTs since 2000 can partially be attributed to the proven success of CCTs in other regions, to African countries’ willingness to test the merit of conditions using rigorous evaluation methods in their own unique contexts, and to donor support for CCTs.
