Programs must maintain political support without becoming overpoliticized

Excessive politicization of domestic support can threaten a CT’s longer term existence.

  • A program is overpoliticized if its association with a certain political party is so strong that the CT is eliminated as soon as the party is no longer in power, or this political connection leads to compromises in program integrity and transparency.

Nevertheless, political support is extremely important to CTs’ success, and support is vital to programs’ institutionalization.
